DESCRIPTION: The Port Moody Ecological Society’s Fingerling Festival\nSaturday May 2, 11am – 3pm\nThe Port Moody Ecological Society’s Fingerling Festival will be held in the Port Moody skating arena (300 Ioco Rd, Port Moody) and at the Noons Creek Hatchery.\nThis iconic environmental festival is among the largest of its kind in the Lower Mainland, and provides an opportunity for children (and adults!) to help release thousands of young chum salmon into Noons Creek to help these fish begin their four-year journey at sea.\nVisitors are invited to the hatchery with its fish-rearing pond and restored wetland. Release salmon fingerlings and speak to amazing ecological, educational and stewardship organizations that help make the Tri-Cities area a healthy, diverse and ecologically sustainable place to live.\nEveryone is encouraged to carpool, use public transit, walk or cycle to the event as this is a green event, and parking is impossible. You can sign up for a short shift or stay for the whole time. This is a fun event for volunteering.\n
