We are back at Blakeburn Lagoons Park for three work parties this fall. We will be tackling Himalayan blackberry in the natural areas. We will have a few ladders to get over the fence and we will need people on the path to snip long branches and pile them for the City of Port Coquitlam to pick up. Bring your own garden tools and gloves or if you prefer use the shovels, landscape forks, loppers and rakes the City will provide. The City will also bring along tarps.
Save these dates, please:
Tuesday, September 17
Tuesday, October 1st
From 9:00 until 12:00 we will be cutting, digging, piling branches and roots on tarps. We will meet at the main entrance of the park by the new washroom just off Elbow Place cul-de-sac close to the new washrooms.
It could get warm so bring water and a snack. Some parts of the natural areas can be dense so I like to wear my old work clothes and my trusty hat when tackling invasive plants.
Thank you for choosing to spend your time and energy in nature making space for our native species.
Blakeburn Lagoons Park is a wonderful place to spend a morning.
Please contact Kathy Leko at kleko@telus.net so the City will know what to bring.
