The Lower Grouse Mountain Highway or LGMH is not actually a highway at all but rather a hiking trail up to the base of the Cut ski run on Grouse Mountain. It is a beautiful trail that curves through a heavy forest; very soft, lush and green. There are plenty of signs of heavy logging in years past but fortunately many large trees still remain. When one arrives at the Screaming Eagle ski lift, you will have reached the top this trail and there is a nice area to view the city. From this point we will use Simic’s trail to access the Chalet area and then the Heaven’s Sake ski trail to access the Wind Turbine and the Peak of Grouse Mountain.
Please note that we will not be using the Skyride for this hike and even though this is considered the easiest route from the base of Grouse to the summit, there will be 3500 ft of elevation gain. Proper footwear and an adequate level of fitness are mandatory for this outing. Round trip distance 15 km. Meet at 7am Return: Approx. 3pm
