Annual General Meeting and Silent Auction
Tuesday, December 12, 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM, doors open early for viewing and bidding!
The Annual General Meeting will be a very short session in which officers for the coming year will be elected.
There is always room for new faces on the Executive. If you have never been on the Executive why not give it a try? There are several Member-at-Large positions which provide an opportunity to learn how the Executive operates, and to contribute to BMN, without requiring a huge commitment in time or energy.
The AGM will be followed by Ian’s annual ‘Year-in-Review’ presentation, a highlight of the year, showcasing BMN events from throughout 2023. If you have photos of BMN events please send them to Ian at imcart@telus.net before November 30.
The BMN Silent Auction, our first since covid, will run the whole evening. There will be musical entertainment and festive beverages and goodies to enjoy. There will also be a large selection of items for bidding on and for sale. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to Wildlife Rescue. Items come in a range of prices, and are ideal as gifts for people on your list or for yourself.
Your donated items are needed and appreciated. Suggestions include nature-themed articles, handmade items, gift cards for local stores and services, gift baskets or other items that would be of interest to naturalists. Please contact Edie Kernighan at ekernighan@gmail.com if you have items to donate.
Consider donating your time, talents and other services. In past auctions, we’ve had: kayak trips and picnics, sewing and photography lessons, an authentic Japanese cooking lesson in your own home, and more. What could YOU offer?
Is there a local business that you frequent? Consider asking if they would be willing to donate a gift basket or gift card. In exchange for their contribution, we will publish their business name and their donation on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, web site, and our January members’ newsletter.
Can you donate baked goods or preserves? One of the biggest income generators at past auction evenings is the baked goods table. Snap up a variety of tasty treats to serve over the holidays! If you do some special baking (candies, loaves, cookies, bars, etc.) at this time of year, please make a bit extra and donate it to the auction.
There will be a used book sales table with nature themed books selling for very low prices. If you have any nature themed books that you would like to contribute to the sales table, bring them along.
We will be having a 50/50 draw again this year, which is a raffle lottery in which the prize is one half the value of all tickets sold during the evening. Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5. Your odds of winning will be very good so be sure to bring along cash to purchase your tickets.
For a successful auction, it’s important to have a good selection of items, but it’s just as important to have people there to bid generously on the items. Bring your friends and neighbours – to a fun and festive evening. You will find some great deals at our silent auction and the money goes to a very worthwhile local cause!Everyone is welcome
NOTE: Doors open early at 7:00 pm for viewing and bidding.
