Join us for two upcoming invasive plant removal sessions at Blakeburn Lagoons Park on two Wednesdays, February 21st and March 6th. These sessions will be hosted by the City of Port Coquitlam.
Work Party Meeting Place and Timing:
Each session will start at 9:00 am with a brief orientation and will continue until noon
We will meet at the western main entrance to the park by the display kiosk and picnic tables. Parking is available along the east side of Elbow Place by the cul-de-sac, just off Riverside Drive in Port Coquitlam.
While you are welcome to stay for the entire event, even helping for a portion of the session will be appreciated.
These sessions will be conducted rain or shine, with our hope for reasonable weather.
Work Party Plan, Equipment and Clothing:
We will again focus on working in small teams to remove Himalayan Blackberry plants.
You are welcome to bring your own gloves and garden tools (such as a shovel, loppers and a rake). The City will likely also have some spare tools available.
Depending on the forecast, you may wish to bring along wet weather gear just in case of inclement weather as the ground and surrounding vegetation may be damp.
Consider bringing along some water or other beverage and a snack if you like.
