Join other BMN members for a series of summer evening botany walks. Bring your guidebook and sketch pad for a series of five gentle walks, all starting at 7:00 PM and lasting about 1.5 hours. These are not guided walks. Instead, we’ll learn how to identify trailside plants from our guidebooks and each other. The walks will go rain or shine, unless the weather is really bad. Check the BMN website for a cancellation notice before you head out. All participants will be required to sign the BMN liability waiver. No need to register – just show up at the appointed time (7 PM) and place.
Walk #1 – Trail along Coquitlam River south from Gates Park in Port Coquitlam
Meet in the parking lot of Gates Park, near the tennis courts. This is just to the west of the intersection of Wilson and Reeve in Port Coquitlam. We will follow a trail along the east side of the Coquitlam River. Our goal is to finally figure out the difference between the two doppelgangers, fringecup and piggy-back plant. Washrooms available.
