Join other BMN members for a series of summer evening botanizing walks. Four gentle walks are planned, all starting at 7 PM and lasting about 1.5 hours, but you can leave whenever you wish. There is no leader for these walks. Instead, we’ll learn how to identify plants from each other and from our guidebooks. No need to register – just show up at the appointed time (7 PM) and place, bearing whatever plant guidebooks you own or can borrow. The walks will go rain or shine, but if there are high winds or heavy rain, check the BMN website before you head out for a cancellation notice. All participants will be required to sign the BMN liability waiver.
Walk #4 Woodhaven Trail, Belcarra Regional Park
Meet in the Woodhaven Swamp parking lot at 7 PM (located along the road to Belcarra Regional Park). This walk will not go around the swamp, but instead we will cross the road to follow Woodhaven Trail. The initial portion of this trail has some gentle ups and downs. It eventually leads to Sasamat Lake, but we will not get anywhere as far as that. Lovely second growth through here, and some open areas under power lines. Washroom (outhouse) available. THE PARK GATES CLOSE AT 9 PM, so we’ll end this walk sharply at 8:30 pm.
