BMN CLUB HIKE: Widgeon Marsh RP to Observe Activity in BMN’s Bird Nest Boxes
BMN CLUB HIKE: Widgeon Marsh Rgional Park to Observe Activity in BMN’s Bird Nest Boxes
Wednesday June 10 tentatively 9AM-3PM
BMN volunteers enter the Widgeon area to clean and maintain our bird nest boxes. We’ve been doing this for about three decades, and never have we had the opportunity to re-enter the area during nesting season to see our nest boxes in action.
With the opening of Widgeon Marsh Regional Park, we can now do this!
We will park at the free lot 800m inside the park gate. No parking reservations are required on weekdays. From here, we will walk 3 km on the flat paved road to the Meadow area where our nest boxes are located. Bring water and lunch, and dress for changing weather.
Please note that the road to the park gates (the upper end of Quarry Road) is a municipal road and an active gravel truck route. About 5 km is gravel with narrow or steep sections, and blind corners. Inside the park, the road is paved.
Please contact Ian (604-939-4039 or email imcart@telus.net) for more information if you are planning on attending.
