Invasive Plant Removal
Participate in Invasive or non-native plants removal to maintain our local green spaces. Invasive plants take space and reduce sunlight, important nutrients and water from our native species. Without natural predators, these invasive plants can become monocultures and challenge our ecosystems.
Burke Mountain Naturalists volunteer to promote biodiversity and maintain better wildlife habitat. Under the direction of the Cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, we cut and dig up invasive plants such as English Ivy, Himalayan Ivy, English Holly and knotweed at local parks and DeBoville Slough.
If you would like to reduce the impact of invasive plants on water quality, biodiversity, fish and wildlife habitat, tree cover and costs, join us!
