Mossom Creek “Microplastics in Our Ecosystems”
Mossom Creek “Microplastics in Our Ecosystems”
Sunday, June 7th 1:00 PM
Mossom Creek Hatchery & Education Centre, 12 Mossom Creek Dr., Port Moody
Join MSc Ana Lorenzetti Forte to learn about the microplastics in our ecosystems, how they travel into waterways, affect organisms, & more.
Ana is a master’s student in Earth Sciences at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on the distribution of microplastics in sediments along the Fraser River, studying sites from Hope to the river delta to better understand how plastic pollution moves through fresh- and brackish-water environments. She has a background in Marine Biology from São Paulo State University and is interested in aquatic pollution, sediment processes, environmental conservation, and science communication.
Ana’s presentation will take place after the Mossom Creek Hatchery’s weekly Salmon Sunday work party & open house. If it is your first time up to Mossom Creek, feel free to come early and explore the hatchery & surrounding forest.
