Neighbors United walk at Lafarge Lake
Neighbors United is a nonprofit working with communities to keep neighborhoods, and the local environment healthy. They have been working in Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam, particularly around the Zero Carbon Step Code, a policy focused on ensuring new buildings are energy-efficient and use electric heating and cooling systems like heat pumps, while reducing reliance on natural gas.
They are starting a new, more social initiative that we hope will become a recurring series: Climate Walks. These are casual, light, community-focused walks where people in the Tri-Cities can come together, spend time outdoors, and connect with others who care about climate action, the environment, and local issues.
Their first walk is happening Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 AM at Lafarge Lake. Meet in front of Evergreen Cultural Centre. The walk will be very relaxed, just a few laps around the Lafarge Lake, focused on conversation and connection.
Please RSVP if you wish to take part in the walk.
