Guided Tour of the Trees on the səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview Lands in Coquitlam
The Riverview Horticultural Centre Society invites you to a Guided Tree Tour of a significant and beautiful part of the Lower Mainland, the historic səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview Lands Arboretum.
Sunday July 19, 1pm – 3pm
Join the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society (RHCS) for the fourth tree tour of səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview of 2026.
Tree tours are leisurely guided walks allowing viewing of some of the more than 1600 catalogued trees on the site. A certified arborist will lead the tour and provide information on the trees and their significance. This is a free, 2-hour, family-friendly event and all are welcome. Dogs must be on-leash. No advance registration is required.
From RHCS:
The tour is scheduled to be led by Connie Evans:
Connie specializes in guided nature walks that immerse one in the sights, sounds and rhythms of nature. Rather than the usual arborist lead tour, this is Tree Bathing…all about getting to know the trees and land through touch, sound, breath and presence. It will be a guided experience, that encourages you to disconnect from technology, slow your pace & your mind, breathe deeply and engage your five senses…
Please bring comfortable, weather appropriate, clothing, plus something waterproof to sit on, and come early to sign waver. This will be a unique opportunity to nurture your wellbeing, reconnect with nature and to what is truly important.
Signs will be posted throughout the site to direct you to the rendezvous location.
Follow the signs and park near the upper lot of the Henry Esson Young (HEY) Building, prior to 1pm.
We Start in Serenity Garden below the HEY Building for Registration & Introductions.
Come enjoy a two-hour saunter through unique, rare, ancient trees.
Feel the joy & marvel at this irreplaceable treasure, Riverview’s Arboretum.
Bring family, friends, dogs on leash. All are welcome.
Rain or shine.
Bring your own water and dress for comfort.
Every Tree Walk is unique: different leader; different trees; new information and always a special experience.
Please note, there is a portable washroom provided by RHCS on-site.
Please visit www.rhcs.org for more information.
Hope to see you there!
