“The current Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease outbreak has proven to put people over 65, those with compromised immune systems, and people with chronic respiratory issues at greater risk than the general population.
In view of this outbreak, the Board of BC Nature recommends that you stay updated on the recommendations made by Health Canada and the BC Ministry of Health.
At this point, we continue to encourage Club Outings (outdoors) to take place as long as they are outdoors where safe social distancing can occur.
Indoor, public events will not be encouraged, many of the clubs have already cancelled their indoor meetings. Please note: As of today (March 16th), any gatherings of 50+ more are being discouraged (according to both Federal and Provincial Health Authorities) so if your outings are large, please review and make your decisions as needed. For the 2020 AGM, starting May 28, 2020 it is still too early to cancel or postpone, but we will keep you informed when we make a decision.
Next to quarantine, spending time in the wild outdoors is perhaps one of the best ways to avoid contact with this virus so please continue to enjoy our natural environment and stay healthy!”
