The “Oiled Wildlife Society of BC”:http://www.oiledwildlifesociety.com/ and the “Wildlife Rehabilitators’ Network of BC”:http://www.wrnbc.org/ are happy to announce the Oiled Wildlife First Responder Basic Training course scheduled for March 16th 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Your participation in this training is a key step to ensuring the highest wildlife survival rate possible during an oil spill response; the more training you have, the better equipped you are to help save lives.
This one-day training will introduce you to the basic elements and communication systems of oiled wildlife response in the first 48 hours of a spill. The class will include an overview of the Incident Command System and the agencies involved in dealing with an oil spill in British Columbia, health and safety, transportation and capture procedures, wildlife handling, temporary housing options, and oiled wildlife stabilization procedures. Our goal as trainers is to provide you with a basic overview of oiled wildlife response and to give you the tools you need to help bridge the 48-hour gap from the occurrence of the spill until a professional oiled wildlife responder is in place.
_Due to demand, a second day has been opened up, March 17th_ and registrations are now underway but class size is limited so please register as soon as possible.
